El rating de Carlos Torre Repetto y la fuerza de E. Z. Adams.
...El motivo de la anotación es esa duda del juego entre Carlos Torre Repetto y E. Z. Adams. Germán de la Cruz, en la biografía de Torre, lo da como ganador y, en verdad, el estilo de Torre con sus sacrificios de dama y obligando al adversario a tomar la pieza hacen creíble el dato. En cambio H. Golombek y la página de Chessgames, dan como ganador a Adams. Buscando el rating de Torre, encontré que Adams no aparece en el mismo, lo cual no es prueba suficiente para aclarar quien ganó esa partida.

Players who play very frequently will have a smaller +/- value, indicating a greater confidence in the accuracy of their rating. Players whose +/- value exceeds 76 are classified as "Inactive" due to their infrequent play against rated opponents.
Mathematically, a player's rating is an estimate of their exact strength on the day after the "Date of Rating". The +/- value represents the standard deviation of that estimate; the player's true strength on that date should be within one standard deviation of their calculated rating approximately 68% of the time, and within two standard deviations of their calculated rating approximately 95% of the time.
Age is the player's exact age in years, on the "Date of Rating". If a player's age is displayed as a link, that means that this rating was active at the time of their next birthday. Click on the link to see the sorted list of all players' ratings on their birthdays when turning that same age.

...La suspicacia en esta ocasión tuvo un resultado curioso, el Dr. Dale Brandreth en 1983, sostiene que la partida se trata de un estudio de Carlos Torre con E. Z. Adams, quien fue su mecenas en el ajedrez y con quien tenía un vínculo de gratitud.

"Torre ganó ese juego brillante, así que es al menos plausible, ya que Torre era un jugador muy fuerte en 1920 y EZ Adams no era más que un "jugador de clase C".

También es una virtual certeza de que en 1920 no hubo torneo en Nueva Orleans lo suficientemente importante como para tener Torre competencia y, además, es extremadamente improbable que un torneo como hubiera encontrado Torre competir contra jugadores tan débil como Adams."

...Por otra parte, el estudio de la partido la realiza Carlos Torre, "el perdedor", lo usual es que lo haga el ganador.
